Seven-time Pro Bowl defensive end Michael Strahan had constructive talks with the New York Giants twice in the past 24 hours, and he expects to make a decision soon on whether to retire or play. General manager Jerry Reese described the talks on Monday night and Tuesday morning as “constructive and positive,” the team said in an e-mail to the media Tuesday afternoon.

Houston releases Pass, places Spencer on PUP list (AP)
The Houston Texans released Patrick Pass and placed Charles Spencer on the physically unable to perform list Tuesday to get down to the NFL-mandated limit of 75 players. Pass, a fullback, was signed a few days into camp after the Texans lost two players to injuries. He spent the first seven years of his career with the Patriots, appearing in 75 games with 11 starts.

The Houston Texans haven’t decided if Mike Flanagan or Steve McKinney will start at center this year. But new quarterback Matt Schaub isn’t concerned. Either way he’ll take snaps from a veteran of more than 100 games. “They are both experienced guys that have played a long time in this league,” he said.

Giants’ Tyree out up to 6 weeks with broken left wrist (AP)
One-time special teams Pro Bowler David Tyree of the New York Giants will be sidelined up to six weeks with a broken left wrist. Tyree will have surgery, coach Tom Coughlin said Monday, adding that the team was willing to keep him on the roster in hopes of getting him back. The five-year veteran was hurt Saturday during the 20-12 preseason loss to the New York Jets.
